Inside and outside bets are terms that are used to distinguish between the different bets in roulette. These terms are related to the table layout. The center of the layout has the grid with the thirty-six number in it. Any bet that is placed on a specific casino roulette number on the grid is called a Straight Up bet. This bet has the highest payout of thirty-five to one. The player places the chip directly on the number in the box. There are kinds of bets that are placed on the lid. In roulette the placement of the chip identifies the kind of bet the player is making. Chips can be placed on the line at the edge of the grid or on the boundary between two or more numbers. These kinds of bets are referred to as Inside Bets because they are in or on the grid. Online bingo players can place multiple bets in roulette and the total of the inside bets cannot exceed the table minimum.

When chips are placed on areas outside of this grid, they are called Outside casino game Bets. These are the two to one bets and the even money bets. A chip placed on “1 to 18” is an outside bet. These bets don’t pay as much as inside bets but they are hit more frequently and they are also subject to the table minimum. New players to the game usually make outside bets until they become more experienced.
